Yesterday we spent almost the entire day at the hospital. Rebekah had a sedated MRI scheduled to check up on her heart post-surgery. We checked in on time and found that it was going to be delayed 2 hours. For those who don't know, before any sedated procedure, the patient is not allowed to eat or drink anything for a good 3 hours. So our hungry two year-old became even more hungry and frustrated. All I can say is I'm glad that Michael was there with me. Patrick was giving me enough to deal with on his own. I couldn't have done the rest by myself. Eventually we got her in and she did fine. She had trouble waking up and when she did she was the crankiest mess I've ever seen! Everything was a battle. She wanted nothing that we offered (including to hold her). The results of the test were not very satisfactory. Her cardiologist told us that her right ventricle was still pulling a large weight and was having a lot of trouble pushing the blood out into the body and lungs. There's an artery somewhere that is VERY narrow and is hindering the blood flow. So they're going to schedule a Cath-lab in a few weeks, put a stint in and balloon a few other parts of her arteries to keep them open and hopefully buy us some time out of O.R. The doctor was very pleased to learn that dispite all of this textbook medical bad news, that Rebekah was doing very well with her eating and her increased amount of energy. Guess not everything medical goes right with the book. . . We did make it through the day and were very grateful to get home.
